Sydney!!
Well I just love Sydney!
It gave my goosebumps when I saw the Harbour Bridge & Opera House!
Mark and I arrived after a 12 hour bus journey in not the best of moods as you can imagine but determined to see the sights and make every minute count!
This is Marks last few days of freedom before he starts work and living in Sydney and Di has flown down from Noosa to meet up with us, so it was very sad to say goodbye to them both after all of this time.
I spent 5 days in Sydney and stayed with some friends of Di's in Bondi Junction which was great! On arrival on the first day we did a river cruise which cruised along looking up onto the Bridge and arriving in Circular Quay next to the Opera House, lots of photos taken then of course, but unfortunately camera problems so needed to reinact this on my last day!
We looked around the Rocks, the oldest part of the town and also visited Darling Harbour, a place to be seen around the harbour with lots of bars & restaurants and nice water features etc
Next day was a coastal walk from Bondi to Cougee, although Di & I got so hot walking around and knew we had to do some vital retail therapy such as Ug Boots and a warm coat!
Saturday was my Harbour Bridge Climb...takes about 3 hours and it was amazing...really enjoyed the experience and not as scary as I thought! I was lucky had a good clear day and could see for miles. I was worried I might not be able to do this after a big night out the night before as they do breathalise you before you can do the climb....so after several coffees I seemed to have passed....phew!
Visited the Botanical Gardens in the afternoon and got a little train around as we basically were too hungover to do anything else! All we could do was drink through it so we had a night out in Bondi...good night although a total meat market and reminded me of Oldham a lot!
Next day involved drinking again...there does seem to be a pattern emerging in Sydney! We caught the ferry over to Manley Wharf as they were having a Wine Festival there for the weekend, so it would be rude not to do! We sat on the beach and tasted different wines, they gave you a wine glass with a cord designed to go around your neck so you couldnt lose it...great idea and will bring it home!
After Melbourne I had one day in Sydney before flying to New Zealand so Mark and I went to this Jazz Festival at night...quality!! Spent the day with his flat mate Chua who is really nice and he had a car!......so did a quick whirlwhind tour around the outskirts of the city so I could see what I had missed last time and a quick dash to the bridge for more photos that had been lost previously!!
