Blue Mountains
This was my last day in Sydney so Di & I booked a trip to the Blue Mountains
By the way we did buy matching hats and scarves thinking we would be in different countries wearing them...how wrong we were but we didnt care!!
It was a few hours drive from the city and so we stopped off at a few places on the way.
First stop being a wildlife place where I saw koalas and kangaroos...AGAIN!! Think its time to leave OZ and have some new experiences!
Next stop was at a Reserve where we had Boomerang lessons...that was so much fun not that it returned to you when we threw it....it seems its quite a skill!
Lunch was at a golf club dont you know, arent we posh!
Then onto the Blue Mountains and yeah they are really blue! We caught a cable car that took us deep into the mountains and had a fabulous view of the 3 sisters, which is three rocks on the cliff face............................The Legend is it that three sisters, 'Meehni', 'Wimlah' and Gunnedoo' lived in the Jamison Valley as members of the Katoomba tribe.
These beautiful young ladies had fallen in love with three brothers from the Nepean tribe, yet tribal law forbid them to marry.
The brothers were not happy to accept this law and so decided to use force to capture the three sisters causing a major tribal battle.
As the lives of the three sisters were seriously in danger, a witchdoctor from the Katoomba tribe took it upon himself to turn the three sisters into stone to protect them from any harm. While he had intended to reverse the spell when the battle was over, the witchdoctor himself was killed. As only he could reverse the spell to return the ladies to their former beauty, the sisters remain in their magnificent rock formation as a reminder of this battle for generations to come.
Then had a walk in a rainforest with a talk about the trees and vegetation...dont ask me to repeat it though! and then onto the scenic railway which was a really steep incline going back up the cliff face at a rate of knots!
Then we caught a ferry back into the city and saw the Sydney skyline all lit up!
